It shown exclusively on Multichoice-owned cable television, DSTV and GOTV . The show normally lasts for approximately three (3) months, reviewed primarily in weeks and days.

BBnaija is organized on the foundation of “reality”. It’s a social experiment which aims to put together people of/from diverse backgrounds, culture and experiences to live and work together. Unity in diversity is the major motivation of the show.

Housemates are allowed and encouraged to live their “normal lives”. They are free to do anything as long as it doesn’t contravene the house rules.

However,Throughout the period of the BBN show, contestants are normally referred to as “housemates”. They are usually picked from a pool of applicants, who show interest in participating in the show and was selected.

In addition,Housemates must be open-minded adults who expressly accept to abide by all the laws of the house.he laws of the house.

Within the period of the Big Brother Naija show, housemates stay in the Big Brother Naija House. The HMs stay without any sort of contact from the outside world. They are not allowed to carry any electronic gadgets into the house. The official language allowed for communication is English. The eye on the logo signifies that he sees everything. He has the ultimate powers to make laws and decide the general daily administration of the house. He adds unexpected twists to spice up the fun.

Big brother Naija reality TV show has proceeded to flourish and simultaneously wax more grounded for the most part among the young; albeit, the show, throughout the long term, has been censured for its presentation of profane and revolting scene which is considered not to be important for the Nigeria culture and that of Africa overall.

“Big Brother” is a global brand owned by Endemol. It is shown in various countries across the world. Its history can be traced to George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four. The novel was written in 1949. The show was first launched in the Netherlands. However the franchise spread to Africa in 2003. Big Brother Africa lasted 9 seasons before going off-air. No official reason was given

BBNaija is a direct adaptation of Big Brother Africa. It was first launched in Nigeria in 2006 as Big Brother Nigeria. 

The first edition of BBNaija was aired on March 5,2006 - june 4th ,2006, just 14 people participated and Katung Aduwak Olisa Adibua won , however the show was on a hold till 2017.

Fast-forward to 2017 ,Big Brother Naija season 2 was tagged "See Gobbe" which translation in English means "see problem", however the show was aired from 22 January 2017 - 9 April 2017 and Michael Efe Ejeba won the reality TV show for that season.

In 2018,the third season of the show was tagged Double Wahala and was aired from 28 January 2018 - 22 April 2018 85, Miracle Igbokwe Emerged as the winner for the third season.

2019,we witness yet another tremendous season of the big brother Naija, apparently the Fourth season and it was tagged Pepper Dem, it was aired from 30 June 2019 - October 2019 and Mercy Eke was crowned the winner.

2020 was indeed the most unforgettable year for everyone all over the world with the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) everyone thought the show wouldnt take place but among all odds the show was held . Bbnaija season 5 was tagged "Lockdown" , it was aired 19 July 2020 - 28 September 2020 71 and Olamilekan "Laycon" Agbeleshe won the show.

Currently the big brother season 6 is ongoing and it this year season is tagged 'shine your eyes' the show started 24 July 2021 and will come to end in less than a month plus.

Ever since 2017 Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has been the show  host and the show has been aired on Africa Magic both on DStv & GOtv from 2017 till date.

 in addition serveral prediction has been made on who was going to win this years season of the Big brother competition but let now rush because the "There have been other tracks that separated the men from the boys. This is the track that will separate the brave from the weak after the boys are gone",in few weeks time we will know.
